Company intelligence / Profile preview
Royce Laboratories was a Miami-based pharmaceutical company that specialized in the development and manufacture of generic prescription drugs. Founded in 1986, the company built a diverse portfolio of products focusing on therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular disease, psychiatry, and anti-inflammatory treatments. Royce was known for its manufacturing expertise and its ability to bring difficult-to-formulate generics to market. In 1997, the company was acquired by Watson Pharmaceuticals in a stock-for-stock transaction valued at approximately $98 million. Following the acquisition, Royce's operations were integrated into Watson's generic division, which eventually became part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. The company's legacy remains part of the consolidation history of the American generic drug industry.
