RQx developed optimized arylomycins, including the lead compound G0775, which demonstrated potent and broad-spectrum activity against multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria through inhibition of bacterial type I signal peptidase—a novel antibiotic target.[6][10] The compound showed efficacy against contemporary multidrug-resistant clinical isolates in vitro and in several in vivo infection models, representing potentially the first new class of antibiotic against gram-negative bacteria in nearly 50 years.[6][10][11]
