Rx for Africa

Rx for Africa, Inc. is a pharmaceutical company focused on the manufacturing and distribution of generic medicines in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company operates primarily through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Rx Africa (Ethiopia) PLC, which maintains a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing plant south of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Its product portfolio includes essential generic drugs for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and various bacterial and fungal infections. In 2009, the company formed a joint venture called ZiRx Therapeutics with Zirus, Inc. to develop repurposed antiviral drugs using a host-target discovery platform. Rx for Africa aims to expand its distribution network beyond Ethiopia to become a major provider of essential healthcare products throughout the African continent. The company was established through a reverse merger in 2007 and was previously publicly traded on the OTC market.
