Company intelligence / Profile preview
Surface Imaging Systems (S.I.S.) was a German-based developer of high-precision Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) equipment. The company gained prominence for its ULTRAObjective technology, which allowed researchers to integrate AFM functionality directly into conventional light microscopes, facilitating multi-modal imaging of biological and material surfaces. Its products were widely utilized in life science research for the nanoscopic analysis of molecular structures and cellular surfaces. S.I.S. was acquired by Vistec Semiconductor Systems in 2007, and its technology was integrated into Vistec's broader microscopy and inspection portfolio.
