Saf-T-Med

Saf-T-Med was a medical technology company focused on the design and manufacture of safety-engineered injection systems. The company developed proprietary retractable needle technology and safety syringes aimed at reducing the risk of accidental needlestick injuries among healthcare professionals. Its products were designed to meet the requirements of the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act in the United States. In 2001, Saf-T-Med was acquired by Becton Dickinson (BD), which integrated the technology into its industry-leading portfolio of safety-engineered medical devices. The acquisition allowed BD to expand its intellectual property and product offerings in the rapidly growing safety device market.
