SAFC Biosciences was a leading global provider of cell culture media, sera, and reagents for the biopharmaceutical industry. Originally operating as JRH Biosciences before its acquisition by Sigma-Aldrich in 2005, the company specialized in upstream processing solutions for the development and manufacturing of complex biologics. Their product portfolio included the EX-CELL line of chemically defined media, designed to optimize the production of monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and gene therapies. The company provided critical raw materials and services, including customized media formulation and regulatory support, to help clients transition from clinical development to commercial scale. Following the 2015 acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich by Merck KGaA, SAFC Biosciences was integrated into the MilliporeSigma life science business.
