Safe Blood for Africa Foundation

The Safe Blood for Africa Foundation (SBFA) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to establishing sustainable, safe blood transfusion services across the African continent. The foundation provides technical assistance, training, and infrastructure support to national blood services to mitigate the transmission of infections such as HIV and Hepatitis through blood products. SBFA implements a 'Step-Wise Accreditation Programme' (SWAP) designed to help national blood programs reach international quality standards. Their work encompasses the entire blood transfusion value chain, from recruiting voluntary non-remunerated donors to implementing advanced laboratory screening technologies and clinical transfusion guidelines.
