SafeStitch

SafeStitch Medical was a medical device company that developed minimally invasive surgical tools for treating obesity, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other digestive tract conditions. The company's portfolio featured endoscopic and laparoscopic devices, most notably the AMID Stapler used for hernia repair and various gastrointestinal stapling systems. These technologies were designed to facilitate procedures through natural orifices or via small incisions to improve patient outcomes and recovery times. In September 2013, SafeStitch Medical merged with TransEnterix, a robotic surgery company, in a move to combine their surgical platform technologies. The resulting entity eventually rebranded as Asensus Surgical.
