Salubrion

Salubrion was a biotechnology company focused on the development of small molecule modulators of the Integrated Stress Response (ISR) to treat neurodegenerative and protein-misfolding diseases. The company's core technology centered on the inhibition of eIF2alpha dephosphorylation, a critical regulatory step in cellular proteostasis that protects cells from stress-induced damage. Salubrion's lead research programs involved salubrinal and its more potent derivatives, such as SAL003, which target the GADD34/PP1 and CReP/PP1 phosphatase complexes. Although the company is no longer active, its foundational work significantly advanced the scientific understanding of ISR-targeted therapies for conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
