San Francisco Heart Institute

The San Francisco Heart Institute (SFHI) is a specialized cardiovascular center based at Seton Medical Center in Daly City, California. It is historically significant for being the site of the first coronary angioplasty performed in the United States in 1978 by Dr. Richard Myler and Dr. Simon Stertzer. Today, the institute continues to provide advanced cardiac care, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiothoracic surgery. It also serves as a site for clinical trials evaluating new cardiovascular technologies and therapeutic approaches. The institute is currently part of the AHMC Healthcare system following its acquisition of Seton Medical Center. SFHI remains a key destination for complex heart disease management in the San Francisco Bay Area.
