Satellite Auction Network (SAN) was a pioneer in the use of satellite broadcasting technology to facilitate live auctions, primarily serving the livestock and agricultural industries. Founded in the 1980s and later becoming a subsidiary of Westcott Communications, the company provided a real-time video and audio platform that allowed buyers to participate in auctions from remote locations. While it operated within the same corporate umbrella as the Healthcare Satellite Network (HSN), SAN itself was not a healthcare or life sciences company. The business model eventually became obsolete with the advent of high-speed internet and web-based auction platforms.
