SAW Diagnostics

SAW Diagnostics is a UK-based biotech and diagnostic device company focused on rapid, near-patient sample-to-answer molecular diagnostics using its proprietary Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) "Acoustic-Flow" technology. Its technology enables rapid extraction and amplification of nucleic acids directly from complex clinical samples (blood, swabs, urine) on disposable chips, facilitating fast point-of-care testing especially for infectious diseases. Initial clinical tests of SAW Dx prototypes with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde produced excellent results, pointing to rapid and accurate infectious disease detection; clinical results for specific use cases (sexual health, respiratory infections) have demonstrated potential to reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescription and improve time to cure, but large-scale commercial deployment is not yet reported.
