SBI ALApharma Canada was a Toronto-based oncology imaging and drug-device development company within the SBI ALApharma Group. The company focused on fluorescence-guided surgery using 5-aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride to generate tumor-selective protoporphyrin IX fluorescence, paired with its proprietary Eagle handheld imaging system. Its lead program, PD G 506 A plus the Eagle V1.2 Imaging System, was studied for intraoperative visualization of residual carcinoma during breast-conserving surgery. The company was established in 2019 following photonamic's acquisition of the oncology business of MolecuLight through the newly formed Canadian subsidiary. As of the latest ClinicalTrials.gov update, its pivotal Phase 3 breast surgery study was terminated due to closure of the sponsor business.
