Company intelligence / Profile preview
SBL Vaccin was a prominent Swedish pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, production, and distribution of vaccines, particularly for enteric diseases. Originally established as the Swedish State Bacteriological Laboratory (Statens Bakteriologiska Laboratorium), it was privatized and became a global leader in oral vaccine technology. The company's flagship product is Dukoral, the world's first widely approved oral vaccine for cholera and enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). Following a series of corporate transitions, SBL Vaccin was acquired by Crucell in 2006, which subsequently became part of Johnson & Johnson's Janssen division. In 2015, Valneva SE acquired the SBL Vaccin manufacturing site in Solna and the Dukoral brand, integrating these assets into its global vaccine portfolio.
