SBRI

Seattle Biomedical Research Institute (SBRI), later known as the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR), was a prominent non-profit research organization dedicated to the discovery and development of treatments and vaccines for global infectious diseases. Founded in 1976, the institute became a world leader in the study of malaria, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis, utilizing advanced systems biology and structural genomics platforms. SBRI's research efforts led to the identification of numerous novel drug targets and the development of innovative vaccine candidates, including genetically attenuated parasite (GAP) vaccines for malaria. In 2018, the institute was integrated into the Seattle Children's Research Institute to form the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research, continuing its mission to eliminate devastating infectious diseases through scientific discovery.
