Schaerer Mayfield NeuroMate

Schaerer Mayfield was a medical technology company formed in 2001 through the merger of the Swiss company Schaerer and the American company Mayfield. The company was primarily focused on the development and commercialization of the NeuroMate, the first robotic system to receive FDA clearance for stereotactic neurosurgery. While the Mayfield head fixation business was sold to Integra LifeSciences in 2004, Schaerer Mayfield continued to advance its robotic portfolio until 2008. In July 2008, the company's neurosurgical robotic assets were acquired by Renishaw, a global engineering firm. Today, the NeuroMate system remains a cornerstone of Renishaw's healthcare division, supporting procedures such as deep brain stimulation and epilepsy surgery.
