Company intelligence / Profile preview
Scherer DDS was the specialized drug delivery division of R.P. Scherer Corporation, a global leader in softgel encapsulation and oral dosage form technologies. Established in 1991, the division focused on the development and commercialization of advanced delivery platforms, most notably the Zydis® orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) technology and the Pulsincap® pulsatile release system. These innovations were designed to improve patient compliance and optimize the pharmacokinetic profiles of various pharmaceutical compounds, particularly for pediatric and geriatric populations. Following the acquisition of R.P. Scherer by Cardinal Health and the subsequent formation of Catalent, Scherer DDS's technologies became core components of Catalent's global drug delivery portfolio.
