Schultze Special Purpose Acquisition Corp. (SAMA) was a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) founded in 2018 by George Schultze. The company was established to identify and merge with a business that had undergone financial restructuring or was in a special situation. In December 2020, SAMA completed its business combination with Clever Leaves International Inc., a multinational cannabis company. The combined entity, Clever Leaves Holdings Inc., trades on the NASDAQ under the symbol CLVR and focuses on the production of pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoids and medical cannabis products. Clever Leaves operates large-scale, low-cost production facilities in Colombia and Portugal, holding EU GMP certifications for its products. The company serves the global medical cannabis market by providing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished medical products.
