Schwarz Pharma marketed a patented drug for Parkinson's disease and had late-stage therapies for Parkinson's disease, epilepsy (notably lacosamide), and restless leg syndrome. It also held a sizable generic drug portfolio including the first generic version of AstraZeneca's Prilosec. At the time of its acquisition by UCB in 2006 for $5.6 billion (€4.4 billion), annual sales were $1.3 billion. Lacosamide was close to regulatory submission with estimated peak sales potential of $1 billion per year.
