Scil Proteins

Scil Proteins was a German biotechnology company specializing in protein engineering and contract manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. The company was widely recognized for its proprietary Affilin platform, which utilized human ubiquitin as a scaffold to develop high-affinity binding proteins for therapeutic use. In 2014, the company's manufacturing assets and CDMO business were acquired by Wacker Chemie to bolster its biologics production division, Wacker Biotech. Following this divestment, the remaining research and development arm focused on the Affilin technology and was eventually rebranded as Navigo Proteins in 2017. During its operation, Scil Proteins provided comprehensive services ranging from process development to GMP manufacturing, particularly for E. coli-derived proteins. Its internal pipeline primarily targeted oncology and inflammatory diseases using its scaffold protein expertise.
