SciPhage

SciPhage is a Colombian biotechnology company specializing in the development of bacteriophage-based solutions to address the global crisis of antimicrobial resistance. Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from the Universidad de los Andes, the company focuses on creating organic bioproducts for animal health, human health, and aquaculture. Its flagship product, SalmoFree, is a phage cocktail designed to control Salmonella in poultry, which has demonstrated significant efficacy in large-scale field trials involving over 550,000 birds. SciPhage operates the first dedicated bacteriophage production plant in Colombia and is expanding its pipeline to include treatments for acne and aquaculture-related infections. The company's business-to-business model aims to improve food safety and agricultural productivity while reducing reliance on traditional antibiotics.
