Company intelligence / Profile preview
SCR Pharmatop was a French pharmaceutical research and development company specialized in drug formulation and stabilization. The company achieved international prominence for developing the first stable, ready-to-use intravenous (IV) formulation of paracetamol. Prior to this innovation, paracetamol was difficult to deliver intravenously due to its rapid degradation in aqueous solutions. This breakthrough led to the commercialization of Perfalgan by Bristol Myers Squibb and Ofirmev by Mallinckrodt. The formulation became a standard of care in hospitals for managing acute post-operative pain and fever. SCR Pharmatop's intellectual property was central to several high-profile patent litigations and licensing deals within the global analgesic market. The company was eventually dissolved following the acquisition of its primary assets and technology by larger pharmaceutical partners.
