Seacoast Technologies

Seacoast Technologies was a medical device company based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, that specialized in minimally invasive surgical tools. The company is best known for developing the VasoView system, a pioneering technology for endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) used in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgeries. By allowing surgeons to harvest veins or arteries through small incisions rather than long traditional incisions, the technology significantly reduced patient trauma, scarring, and recovery time. In 1996, Seacoast Technologies was acquired by Origin Medsystems, a subsidiary of Guidant Corporation, for approximately $15 million. The VasoView product line remains a market leader in the EVH space today under the ownership of Getinge.
