Company intelligence / Profile preview
Sealantis developed a proprietary platform based on alga-mimetic adhesives inspired by the way algae adhere to rocks underwater. Its lead product, "Seal-V", received CE Mark approval and was commercialized in Europe to reduce blood loss during vascular surgeries by sealing suture lines. The company’s adhesives are protein-free, reducing infection/allergy risk compared to animal-derived products. Clinical studies demonstrated safety and efficacy for controlling bleeding from large peripheral blood vessels. The company was acquired by Advanced Medical Solutions Group in early 2019 for $25 million plus royalties; it now serves as an innovation center within AMS.
