Company intelligence / Profile preview
Seasonale is a well-known brand name for an extended-cycle oral contraceptive, rather than a standalone company. It was developed and brought to market by Barr Pharmaceuticals (specifically through its subsidiary Duramed Pharmaceuticals), which specialized in generic and proprietary women's healthcare products. Seasonale was the first FDA-approved contraceptive designed to reduce the number of menstrual periods to four per year. In 2008, Barr Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, which now manages the product portfolio.
