Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Seattle Prostate Institute (SPI) was a world-renowned medical center specializing in the treatment of prostate cancer, particularly through the use of prostate brachytherapy. Founded by pioneers in the field, SPI was instrumental in developing and refining the ultrasound-guided seed implantation technique that became a standard of care for localized prostate cancer. The institute provided comprehensive care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term follow-up, while also conducting significant clinical research and physician training. It maintained one of the world's largest databases for prostate brachytherapy outcomes, contributing extensively to oncological literature. In 2005, the institute was acquired by Swedish Health Services and integrated into the Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle, Washington.
