Company intelligence / Profile preview
Segetis was a U.S. green chemistry and industrial biotechnology company that developed renewable chemical building blocks, polymers, plasticizers, surfactants, solvents, and related specialty materials from non-food agricultural and forestry feedstocks. The company's core technology centered on a platform of bio-based binary monomers and levulinic acid derivatives intended to replace petroleum-derived materials in industrial and consumer applications. Segetis was headquartered in Golden Valley, Minnesota and operated pilot-scale production capabilities while pursuing broader commercial scale-up. In February 2016, GFBiochemicals acquired Segetis' assets and intellectual property to expand its levulinic-acid-based product portfolio and establish a direct U.S. presence. Segetis was not a therapeutics developer and does not appear to have operated in life sciences, pharma, or healthcare.
