Selsym Biotechnology

Selsym Biotechnology is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in the development of synthetic hemostatic agents designed to control bleeding and enhance wound healing. The company's lead technology platform, Fibrin-Specific Nanogels (FSNs), consists of highly deformable hydrogel nanoparticles that mimic the function of natural platelets by binding specifically to fibrin at injury sites. These "synthetic platelets" are intended to treat traumatic hemorrhage, surgical bleeding, and coagulopathies, offering a shelf-stable alternative to donor-derived platelet transfusions. In July 2024, Selsym was acquired by Humacyte, a clinical-stage regenerative medicine company, to integrate FSN technology with Humacyte's bioengineered human acellular vessels (HAVs).
