Sequitur Inc. was a pioneering biotechnology company specializing in the development of antisense and RNA interference (RNAi) technologies for functional genomics and drug discovery. Based in Natick, Massachusetts, the company focused on creating high-performance synthetic oligonucleotides designed to inhibit specific gene expression with high precision. Their proprietary "Stealth RNAi" platform was a significant advancement in the field, offering researchers a way to achieve potent gene knockdown while minimizing cellular toxicity and off-target effects. Sequitur's technology and intellectual property were highly regarded in the early 2000s as the RNAi field rapidly expanded. In December 2003, the company was acquired by Invitrogen Corporation for approximately $20 million. This acquisition allowed Invitrogen to integrate Sequitur's gene-silencing tools into its broader portfolio of life science research products, which eventually became part of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
