Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Sequoia Project is a non-profit, public-private collaborative focused on advancing the implementation of secure, interoperable nationwide health information exchange (HIE). Originally founded as Healtheway, the organization manages several high-profile initiatives, including the eHealth Exchange, which is one of the largest health data sharing networks in the United States. It also oversees the Carequality framework, which enables different HIE networks to interoperate seamlessly. The Sequoia Project serves as the Recognized Coordinating Entity (RCE) for the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), a federal initiative to establish a universal floor for interoperability across the country. By providing governance, legal frameworks, and technical standards, the consortium facilitates the exchange of clinical data among hospitals, pharmacies, and federal agencies.
