Company intelligence / Profile preview
Serecor was a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in San Diego, California, focused on developing non-opioid therapeutics for the management of post-operative pain. The company's primary asset was SER-100, a long-acting formulation of the local anesthetic bupivacaine designed to provide sustained pain relief. In May 2014, Serecor was acquired by Heron Therapeutics in a transaction valued at approximately $20 million in cash and stock. The acquisition was strategic, bringing in a Phase 2-ready asset and a management team led by Barry Quart, who subsequently became the CEO of Heron. Under Quart's leadership, Serecor's technology and expertise were integrated into Heron's development of Zynrelef (HTX-011), a dual-acting local anesthetic.
