Company intelligence / Profile preview
SGAM SEFTI (Specialized European Fund for Therapeutic Innovation) was a French venture capital fund dedicated to early-stage investments in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors. Managed by Société Générale Asset Management (SGAM), the fund focused on financing innovative therapeutic projects and medical technologies emerging from academic research in Europe, particularly in France, Switzerland, and Italy. A key feature of the fund was its strategic partnership with the biotechnology company Amgen, which contributed approximately 40% of the fund's capital. The fund's portfolio included notable biopharmaceutical companies such as DNA Therapeutics and Genkyotex, with a focus on oncology and other high-need therapeutic areas. Following the 2010 merger of SGAM with Crédit Agricole Asset Management to form Amundi, the fund's management was integrated into the Amundi Private Equity platform. SGAM SEFTI played a significant role in the European biotech ecosystem during the late 2000s by bridging the gap between academic research and clinical development.
