Celsion (Shanghai) BioMedTech is a biotechnology company and a subsidiary of Imunon, formerly known as Celsion Corporation. The company was established to manage the clinical development and regulatory strategy for the parent company's oncology pipeline within the Chinese market. Its primary focus was the development of ThermoDox, a heat-activated liposomal formulation of doxorubicin designed to be used in conjunction with thermal ablation for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Following the failure of the Phase 3 OPTIMA trial to meet its primary endpoint in 2020, the company's operations were significantly reduced. The entity remains a part of Imunon's corporate structure, though the parent company has shifted its strategic focus toward DNA-based immunotherapies.
