Shanghai Destiny Biotech is a Chinese biotechnology company focused on the research, development, and process optimization of therapeutic biologics, particularly monoclonal antibodies and therapeutic proteins. Founded in 2013 and based in Shanghai, the company operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mabwell (Shanghai) Bioscience. Shanghai Destiny Biotech's capabilities span the entire drug development lifecycle, including drug discovery, cell line development, process development and scale-up, preclinical testing, and clinical manufacturing. Its lead program, IA001 (also known as 9MW0613), is a tocilizumab biosimilar targeting the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, which is being co-developed with Liaoning Grand Nuokang Bio-Pharmaceutical.
