Shanghai Huayuan Anhui Renji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was a Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Fuyang, Anhui Province, and a subsidiary of the China Huayuan Group. The company specialized in the production of generic intravenous infusions and injectable medications, including antibiotics and glucose solutions. It is primarily known for the 2006 Xinfu scandal, in which substandard batches of Clindamycin Phosphate Injection caused at least 11 deaths and hundreds of adverse reactions across China. Following the incident, the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) revoked the company's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificate and halted all production. The company effectively ceased operations and its parent group underwent significant restructuring shortly thereafter. This case remains a landmark event in Chinese pharmaceutical regulation and drug safety history.
