Overview

Shantha was India’s first biotech to develop an indigenously produced recombinant hepatitis B vaccine launched in 1997 at affordable prices. It developed multiple WHO-prequalified pediatric combination vaccines. The company faced challenges after WHO cancelled prequalification of its pentavalent vaccine but survived through support from parent Sanofi. It has expanded into oncology biosimilars and small molecules alongside its strong vaccine portfolio.
