Shared Medical Systems (SMS) was a leading provider of healthcare information technology solutions, specializing in data processing and management systems for hospitals and health systems. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, the company pioneered the use of remote computing services to manage clinical and financial data. Its core product offerings included the Invision and Allegra platforms, which facilitated electronic health records and administrative workflows. At its peak, SMS served thousands of healthcare facilities across North America and Europe.
