Sharp Laboratories of Europe

Sharp Laboratories of Europe was a UK-based research and development subsidiary of Sharp Corporation founded in 1990 as Sharp's first overseas R&D laboratory. The company supported Sharp's product development across Europe and Japan, with work spanning displays, embedded electronics, energy and environmental solutions, and selected health and medical devices. Although it had some activity relevant to healthcare technology, it was not a drug-development biotech or pharmaceutical company and did not operate a traditional therapeutic pipeline. Its role was primarily applied industrial research and technology transfer into Sharp products. The UK legal entity was dissolved on January 2, 2024.
