Company intelligence / Profile preview
Shelter to Soldier is a non-profit organization dedicated to "Saving Lives, Two at a Time" by rescuing dogs from shelters and training them as psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 veterans. The organization addresses the dual crises of shelter dog euthanasia and veteran suicide by providing highly trained service animals to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and other psychological injuries. Their comprehensive 12-18 month training program prepares dogs for specialized tasks that mitigate symptoms of mental health conditions, facilitating the veteran's reintegration into civilian life. In addition to service dogs, the organization provides emotional support animals (ESAs) and operates a therapy dog team known as the Canine Ambassadors. All services are provided to veterans at no cost, supported by a network of individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation grants.
