Shield Therapeutics is a commercial-stage specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapies for iron deficiency. The company's lead product, Accrufer (known as Feraccru in Europe), is a novel, oral, non-salt based iron replacement therapy approved for use in adults with iron deficiency, with or without anemia. Unlike traditional salt-based iron supplements, Accrufer's ferric maltol formulation is designed to be well-tolerated and provides a much-needed alternative for patients who cannot tolerate standard oral iron treatments. Shield is currently focused on the large-scale commercial rollout of Accrufer in the United States through a co-commercialization agreement with Viatris. Additionally, the company has established several international partnerships to expand the reach of its iron deficiency treatments in markets including Europe, China, and Japan.
