Shinko Securities

Shinko Securities was a prominent Japanese financial services company and investment bank headquartered in Tokyo. Founded in 1917, the firm played a significant role in the Japanese capital markets, offering a wide range of services including retail brokerage, equity underwriting, and asset management. In May 2009, Shinko Securities merged with Mizuho Securities, a subsidiary of the Mizuho Financial Group, to form the current Mizuho Securities. While the company was frequently involved in the financial side of the life sciences sector—acting as a lead underwriter for various biotechnology and pharmaceutical initial public offerings—it was not a healthcare or biotech company itself and did not possess a therapeutic pipeline or medical products.
