Company intelligence / Profile preview
Northwest Synthetic Pharmaceutical Factory, often referred to as Xibei Synthetic Pharmaceutical Factory, was a prominent state-owned pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Lanzhou, China. Established in 1966 as part of the nation's "Third Front" construction initiative, it became one of the largest bases for chemical drug synthesis in the Northwest region. The factory specialized in the large-scale production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms, including antibiotics, sulfonamides, and vitamins. Following the restructuring of state-owned enterprises in the early 2000s, the company was integrated into the China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm). Today, its legacy operations continue under Sinopharm's regional subsidiaries, focusing on the manufacturing and distribution of essential medicines. The facility remains a historically significant site for China's industrial pharmaceutical development.
