Company intelligence / Profile preview
Sigma-Tau was a major Italian pharmaceutical group focused on research and development of therapies for rare diseases and other serious conditions. It developed both proprietary small molecules and biologics. Its portfolio included marketed drugs such as Abelcet®, Carnitor®, Cystaran®, Matulane®, VSL#3® probiotic formulations, as well as clinical-stage assets like istaroxime for heart failure and tenatumomab for cancer. The company had a strong focus on rare/orphan indications through its US subsidiary.
