Sigma Theta Tau International

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, commonly known as Sigma, is a global non-profit organization dedicated to advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence. Founded in 1922, the organization has grown to include more than 600 chapters and 135,000 active members across over 100 countries. Sigma provides its members with professional development resources, leadership programs, and networking opportunities, while also publishing influential peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Nursing Scholarship. Through its foundation, the society awards numerous research grants and scholarships to support the advancement of nursing science and evidence-based practice. As a prominent voice in the healthcare community, Sigma maintains a special consultative status with the United Nations.
