Simon L. Ruskin

Simon L. Ruskin was a New York-based physician and prolific pharmaceutical chemist who operated primarily through the Physiological Chemicals Company and Ruskin Laboratories during the mid-20th century. He is best known for his pioneering research into the stabilization and therapeutic use of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and the development of various metal-salt complexes of antibiotics, such as penicillin. His work resulted in hundreds of patents covering a wide range of medicinal chemistry applications, including treatments for respiratory conditions, nutritional supplements, and hormonal therapies. The entity was instrumental in the early commercialization of stabilized vitamins and improved antibiotic formulations. Although the company is no longer active, Ruskin's innovations significantly influenced the development of modern pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug delivery.
