Sinai Urban Health Institute

Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) is a community-based research organization and a member of Sinai Chicago, dedicated to improving health equity in urban environments. Founded in 2000, the institute focuses on identifying and addressing social determinants of health through rigorous epidemiological research and community-driven interventions. SUHI is nationally recognized for its pioneering work with Community Health Workers (CHWs) to manage chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes in underserved populations. Their mission involves documenting health disparities and implementing evidence-based solutions to eliminate them in Chicago’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. The institute provides a range of services including community health assessments, program evaluation, and training for healthcare professionals.
