Sinopec Research Institute

Sinopec Research Institute represents the collective R&D organizations of the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), including the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), the Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry (BRICI), and the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology (SRIPT). While primarily known for energy and petrochemicals, these institutes are major contributors to the life sciences and healthcare sectors through the development of medical-grade polymers, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bio-based chemicals. They provide essential raw materials for medical devices such as syringes, IV bags, and dialysis equipment, and are global leaders in the production of melt-blown fabrics for medical masks. The institutes are also advancing synthetic biology and enzymatic catalysis to create sustainable chemical processes and high-value pharmaceutical precursors.
