Company intelligence / Profile preview
Skin Tissue Engineering Pty Ltd (SKIN) was an Australian clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on delivering a paradigm shift in severe burn and wound care. Founded by Professor Dr. John Greenwood AM and Julian Burton OAM, the company pioneered the development of Composite Cultured Skin (CCS), an autologous, bilayered skin substitute grown from a patient's own cells within a biodegradable polyurethane matrix. This technology was designed to eliminate the need for traditional skin autografts in patients with massive, life-threatening burns. The company conducted pilot clinical evaluations of CCS in combination with Biodegradable Temporising Matrix (BTM) before entering voluntary liquidation in March 2023.
