SkinEthic Laboratories is a biotechnology company that specializes in the design and production of reconstructed human tissue models for in vitro testing. Established in 1992 and acquired by L'Oréal in 2006, the company is a pioneer in providing alternatives to animal testing for the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. Its product portfolio includes reconstructed human epidermis (RHE), as well as oral, gingival, vaginal, and corneal epithelial models. These standardized 3D models are used globally for safety assessment, efficacy screening, and basic research in dermatology and toxicology. Today, SkinEthic operates as part of Episkin, L'Oréal's dedicated tissue engineering subsidiary.
