Skinetics was a Dutch medical technology company specializing in the development of innovative microneedle-based drug delivery systems. Spun off from the University of Twente, the company focused on creating minimally invasive transdermal solutions for the systemic delivery of vaccines and therapeutic proteins. Its core technology utilized micro-structured arrays designed to penetrate the skin's outer layer without reaching pain receptors, offering a painless alternative to traditional injections. In 2011, Skinetics was acquired by LTS Lohmann Therapie-Systeme AG, a leading global pharmaceutical technology provider, to integrate its microneedle expertise into LTS's broader transdermal delivery portfolio.
